ABBA FATHER – YOUR SPIRITUAL HARMONY WITH GOD

9th OCTOBER 2019

“Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” – Galatians 4:6

When a child cries out, there must be a reason. Either the child is hungry, or he is dissatisfied with certain things. A child’s cry draws attention to his immediate needs – which is either to be fed or get a redress. But the cry of the heart is not filled by rules such as the need to eat when hungry or quench our thirst.  The heart cries out for the need for a relationship to be filled. The cry of every human heart is for the love and intimacy of the one who created it. This brings us to the question of our relationship with God. Do we believe in the existence of God? For a great many people, they believe in the existence of God, but sure do not have a cordial relationship with Him. And that has created a wide gulf between them and God. God exists, but relationally, we are distant from Him, we see Him as unreachable. Again, we come to church service and sing hymns about how great God is, but we don’t often feel or know how close He is to us. We know God is Lord, but we struggle to have that intimate relationship with Him as our Father. How do we develop that intimacy or harmony with God?  We can only harmonize with God when we are in deep sympathy with Him. Expressed differently, we begin to attune or harmonize with God when we operate on the same frequency as Him. This means we must share certain common features with God through which we are able to harmonize with Him. The word of God today says, “because you are sons of God, then you have received the spirit of God which cries Abba Father”! This means you must become one with God in spirit!  To become one with God is to be born of the spirit of God and to experience a total transformation of mind, spirit, and body. It means that side by side with Christ, there exists no difference between you and Christ in terms of holiness, attitude, power, and victory! When that happens, you have also become THE ETERNAL WORD OF GOD, full of power and grace of God. When our spirit cries Abba Father, then it means we have become one with God – this is the spiritual synergy that makes us sons of God.  How and when does this happen? The scripture says for those who believe and accept Him, He gives them the power to become the sons of God who are also born by the spirit (NOT by the flesh). To believe in God and to accept Jesus Christ as the son of God goes beyond the mere confession of faith. You must truly become Christ in attitude and spirit! You must be truly “holy like your father in heaven”. This means you have to become a true disciple of Christ who will never question His authority and commandments. To harmonize with God is to become one with Christ – This means you have to do God’s will all the time by following the dictates of Jesus Christ. Finally, to cry Abba Father, IS TO SEE GOD IN ALL THINGS AROUND YOU! Beloved, you must see the face of Jesus in all persons irrespective of their religion, or way of life. This morning, I want you to ask yourself some basic questions; Can you give love freely to everyone outside your comfort zone?  Has your spirit flowed into the Spirit of God in such a way that your Spirit cries ABBA Father in recognition of God’s spirit? Can you feel the power of God flowing in and out of you? If not, then you must pray and ask God for an answer and proper direction. Understanding God and accepting Jesus Christ comes with the power and authority of the son of God.

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank you for your word today. The scripture says for as many as are led by the spirit are called the sons of God. Therefore, I declare I am filled by your spirit today. By thy grace, I have started to bear the fruits of the spirit. Lord, thank you for your power flowing through me right now. AMEN.
