BE A FOUNTAIN, NOT A DRAIN!

March 26th 2019

"For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water” - Jeremiah 2:13

Spiritually, a fountain means the giver of vital life force – That which sustains life and vitality. The vital life force gives health and wealth. There is a fountain of life that surrounds the world and everyone is a partaker of it. This fountain of life is God who surrounds everyone and is in all things giving life, grace, and sustenance. Today’s word says that anything outside God is a broken cistern! Either by omission or commission, some cannot attune properly with God and therefore cannot benefit from His divine sustaining powers. The reason is that some do not believe in God or just do not care about how to make God work for them. These people make no efforts on their part to get to understand God and the possibility of living a fulfilled life. These set of people always like to depend on others to survive. A broken cistern is anything that cannot stand the test of time such as a wrong ideology, wrong beliefs or principles of life, and the likes of them. Those attuned with a broken cistern would exhibit some signs such as taking undue advantage of their church, their workplace or of other people to drain off resources, either deliberately or carelessly. Because they are not hooked onto God, everything good that goes into them is immediately flushed away! The presence of such persons around us is highly depleting. This revelation is a pathetic one and has challenged our understanding for a long time. If we are able to understand the reason we lack progress, the faster it will be to correct the situation.

Otherwise, we will continue to go round a circle. What we need in life is the sustaining power of God. In Him, all things are contained. Outside of God, there is darkness and emptiness! Those who operate outside the divine principles of God cannot give to others anything really good. They cannot give what they do not have! Anyone in God is like a fountain! He would always give to others as received from God. The good news is that we all can become fountains! The word of God today says God is the fountain of living waters who sustains us. We must hold onto God for sustenance, health, wealth and vitality. Life outside God is a broken cistern that can hold NO water. Therefore, anyone who leans on a broken cistern, instead of God will be a burden to others in two main ways: ONE, they will take from others to fill their emptiness, while they quickly empty away because they cannot hold or retain what they have taken. TWO, they spiritually become a burden on others by swallowing up the others’ opportunities and wealth and depleting same outright because they have also become an unseen drain to leak out divine opportunities and goodness because they are not hooked onto God the provider of these things. Conversely, anyone who is a fountain will give forth his energies to serve others, his church and his place of work. It is time to understand this mystery so you can adjust your life and be hooked to the high powered principles of God. To know God is to read the scriptures and apply God’s word to our life!

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I lean on your word today, and I declare I am delivered from the bondage of broken cisterns. Keep me safe and protected. I declare I am a blessing to others. Father, anything you give my hands shall retain, all to the glory of God. AMEN
