FINDING THE RIGHT PATH IN LIFE (PART 1)

March 23rd 2019

“This is what the Lord says: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. (Jeremiah. 6:16).< /b>

We have touched on this topic several times, but the need to revisit it keeps coming up. This is because a decision to take the right path in life arises on a daily basis. Except you are used to a particular terrain, you will definitely be confused when in the course of your journey; you get to a point where the road separates into different directions. Which way do you go from here; to the right, to the left or straight on? Same applies to us every day when we are confronted with taking the best decisions to enable us to move forward in life. For instance, life stages such as leaving school, getting married, starting a family, starting a new career, entering retirement are some of the crossroads demanding for our best judgment. Sometimes, even without any of the above, we may start thinking deeply about our lives, and the need for a change. Whatever the reasons that we are stuck at the crossroads, our job is to figure out what the good way is and walk in it. But how do we figure that out? Well the word of God today gives us three principles to follow:

1. Stand, ask, and walk.
God’s Ancient Instruction or God’s advice, when we come to the crossroads, was written long ago, and does not ever change: "Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the ancient paths, wherein is the good way, and walk therein" This means that you should not go rushing headlong through life. Stand still and consider before taking any step. While you are considering, endeavor to do the following:
a. Believe that God has a Master plan for you! God’s master plan for His children is found in Jeremiah 29:11, wherein God says; “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Knowing God has a master plan for us is to give us hope, and the best way to figure out God’s plan for us is to ask for His will for us when we get to a crossroad. Before you take any further action, seek for God’s will for you on the issue you are confronted with. One of the mistakes we make when we face life at the crossroads is not first seeking the will of God, and then proceeding to overlook the consequences of what we might call “interim decisions or decisions taken on the spur of the moment”. Those choices we make without first, seeking for the will of God in prayers can negatively impact our lives more than we would think. So rather than take decisions in a hurry or without proper consideration, it is better to wait for the bigger picture to unfold. The will of God is always perfect for us.
Beloved, I do not know what crossroads you are at the moment. But I do know that you can make gradual progress by committing that into the hands of God in prayers and fasting. Seek His will and wait to hear from Him before going any further.

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I seek your perfect will right now, and the way forward in my life. Give me the word of grace and hope that I may find my way to fulfillment. Lord, you are the unseen eyes that pierce through the dark nights. Give me light to see. Father, you are the mighty hands in battle, deliver me from known and unknown forces that seek to pull me down. Thank you, father, for I am delivered, safe and sound at the destination you have prepared for me. Glory to your name. AMEN.
