GOD IS BEYOND RELIGION AND TRIBAL SENTIMENTS

May 17th 2019

“And he answering said, “'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with thy entire mind, and thy neighbor as thyself.'” Luke 10:27

Our journey through life is to find the soul of God. To find God, we must travel beyond religion and tribal sentiments. God is above religion and anyone spiritual ideal or principle. No doubt, we need religion to enable us to understand the plan and purpose of God for us. But we must be careful not to subscribe to any tenets, ideology or way of life which goes against the nature of Christ, for Christ is the soul of God. God is too big to be fully understood by one single religion or mind, however spiritual or illumined it may sound. This is because God is God, and lives in a higher dimension. The scriptures remain the infallible guide regarding the nature, principles, and promises of God, in so far as they are correctly interpreted to reflect a love for man, and love for God. Master Jesus is emphatic on the cardinal principles of life, and correctly, He says we have to love God with all our hearts and minds, and secondly, we have to love our neighbors as ourselves. The universe is founded on these same laws that testify to God’s nature of love for all. The word of God today is reminding us about our sacred obligations to one another, and to God. The commandment is to love God and man same time. Therefore, you must love your neighbor, and be ready to see him as happy as you are; this is the only way to prove that you love God. Do you see Jesus’ injunctions as true test of your Christian Faith?

In what way do you express your love for God; is it by regular church attendance without extending love to people around you? What sacrifice do you make on behalf of your fellow human beings? Jesus says; “whatever you do to the least of these my Brethren, the same you have done to me” (Matthew 25:40) this means you ought to see the face of God in EVERYONE that comes to your doorsteps seeking your help. Our success in life is judged by the level of good that we do to others, which good gladdens the heart of God, not according to how it gladdens our own hearts! The soul of God is Christ, and Christ is the seat of Love and absolute goodness. Anyone who finds Christ finds the soul of God! Such a one must reason above religion, tribal sentiments and give love all the time. Such a one must be ready to make peace with the whole world! Remember, the measure you give is the measure you get. Coincidentally, your love for God is measured by your obedience to His commands; hence Jesus further says; “if you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15) Are you ready to open a new leaf today; to love God and your neighbor same time?

Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, I acknowledge the truth that, in man, the glory of God is revealed and reflected. Grant me a heart that sees you in others, and in all things. Lord, move me to compassion and readiness to touch lives for the sake of love, above every religion and tribal ideology. AMEN.
