Biblical Principles for Attaining Health and wellbeing

It is not difficult to understand how most incurable diseases seem to have a moral or spiritual link or dimension. Some of the greatest destroyer of health and wellbeing are anger, sadness, envy, jealousy and inability to forgive. The bible says “A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30). Further to this, a crude and violent attitude to life is highly destructive to health and wellbeing. The bible says; “Don’t be impressed with your all wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn your back on evil. Then you’ll gain renewed health and vitality” – (Proverbs 3:7-8). Also, Proverbs 17:22 says that; “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

The first step to receiving healing is to get rid of envy, jealousy, anger, unforgiving, sadness and evil attitude generally.
The second step is to take your natural medicines as prescribed.Medicine must be taken according to directions to be effective. Some medicine labels read “Take internally”; others say, “Take externally.” To rub it on your body externally when the directions say to take it internally will not work. It may even cause more damage in the process. To take it after meals when the directions say take it before meals will reduce its effectiveness. To take with Tea or mineral drink when directive is to take with water may lead to hypersensitivity. To take it once in a while when the directions say three times a day will mean limited results, if any. No matter how good the medicine is, it must be taken according to the directions of the physician or it will not work.
The third step is to apply a spiritual principle. If you believe in the power of the written word of God as contained in the bible, then you must apply it correctly for it to work. Regarding how to apply the written word of God, Proverbs 4:20-21 says: – “Attend to them, incline your ear to them, don’t let them depart from before your eyes, and keep them in the midst of your heart”. Please take note that you must allow the word of God to take root in your heart for it to work.

The word of God must penetrate to your spirit through meditation – attending, hearing, looking, muttering, musing, and pondering before it can produce healing in the body.
How do we get the written word of God to penetrate our hearts and melt into our spirit? We have to do the following:
i. Pray regularly with aparticular verse in the scripture and meditate on it. This means we have to profess our faith and hope in that scriptural verse on a daily basis.
ii. When we thus pray, we must believe in our heart what we are professing
iii. We must also have a very firm understanding of what we are professing or confessing.
The mistake that we often make is that we do not usually believe in those scriptures we repeat to ourselves. Although we repeat them to us, the repetition is usually mechanical and do not come from the heart. We repeat them only because it is necessary to do just that when we pray with the word of God, not that we truly believe in their efficacy.
For those of us who are conversant with the antics of the parrots, they like to mimic human beings. No matter how good a parrot is at mimicking a human being, that does not make it a human being. There are many believers like this parrot, repeating and repeating what the Word of God or somebody else says, but with no depth of faith or understanding behind these words. They say the right things and do the right things, but everything they say and do is done in a mechanical way. This is not the "profession" that the Holy Spirit is referring to in Hebrews 10:23:

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is Faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)

Therefore, for the word of God to be effective, it must go through your spirit by meditation, profession, and confession. This means that you must understand the meaning of the particular verse in the scriptures and firmly believe in your heart what that verse is saying. This means that your subconscious or spirit man must accept what you have affirmed or believed. Otherwise, it will not work.

Do not wonder about whether your faith is enough to heal you or not; only feed on the word of God several times a day, confessing, believing, professing and repeating them to yourself until it takes root in the heart. At that point when the word takes root, your faith to heal the body is ignited and released. Healing then begins to take place.

Some medicine brings health and vitality faster. Some are deliberately tailored to be slow in reaction, especially if a vital organ of the body is involved. Some requires above a single doze to restore health while others require two or three dozes. Therefore, you must give time, and employ patient and resources when taking medicine. This is just the basic fact.

Same applies to your daily meditation and recitation of scriptural verses on healing. You must also be patient and allow the body to assimilate the suggestions being made to it. Some persons have received healing instantly when they pray for themselves. But some only receive healing through the prayers of others. Therefore, when you pray for healing, give it time to work.

Something very interesting happens when we meditate or recite scriptural verses to ourselves;the spirit is enlivened and quickened in the process. The vibration of the body is raised above the level of the disease and subsequently, the disease is melted away. Sometimes, healing is instant. At some other time, healing is achieved gradually.

So many principles have been woven around the cross. This is because virtually everything you need is right there on the cross. The unblemished and perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross has unlocked all the benefits of the cross to them that believe in the mysteries of the cross and the grace offered by the Master. But I like to touch on the healing principle only which a Christian can easily apply to regain health. The basic principle of healing rests on the cross and the victory Jesus has won for the whole world. Regrettably however, only those who believe in this principle and are ready to apply same would benefit by it. Now, meditate, believe, confess and profess the following:
i. Confess your sins to God and request that He admits you to His throne of mercy. This will also cancel every legal authority that the demons may have against your healing. - James 5:16
ii. That Jesus Christ is the Author and finisher of your faith. This is because saving faith is a gift from God. Therefore, when your faith is failing, the Master would help your unbelief and sustainyour faith - Hebrews 12:2
iii. That Jesus has made a perfect sacrifice of his life that you may gain a renewed life - Romans 8:11; Ephesians 2
iv. That the grace of the Master is sufficient for you.(2 Con 12:9). Here, the Master gives courage to everyone who is in covenant with Him. He is telling you: ‘Trust all to me. I will never fail thee nor forsake thee. Even that which thou feelest to be a hindrance will be overruled into a source of strength.’ Any wonder therefore; the thorn that Paul feels on his flesh was not taken away, but strength was given to him to bear it.
v. Meditate upon, believe in, profess and confess Isaiah 53:4-5. This verses contains the summary of the mysteries of the cross and the principle of the Master for health and wellbeing;youmust strike on the spirit subconscious of your being and let this scripture sink into your spirit. Believe therefore that Jesus has done that and therefore, you are victorious and healed by his blood and righteousness.
