BE FLEXIBLE IN YOUR DESIRES (PART 2 OF 2)

4th NOVEMBER 2022

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work – 2 Corinthians 9:8

Please take note that there is a big difference between what WE NEED and what WE WANT. God will not give us all that we want, but He will give us all that we need. That is so to enable us to fulfil every good work assigned to us by God. God is a miracle worker, and he works miracles in mysterious circumstances.

To abound in every good work is to do the things pleasing to God alone while fulfilling our divine call and mission on earth. Therefore, although God may not grant precisely as we have prayed, He definitely would do for us the things that would greatly benefit us, even though they are not exactly as we had prayed. The most important thing that God protects is our satisfaction in His own way.

When God answers our prayers, He does so in His own way, which may either be as we had prayed, or different from our request, yet bringing with it a positive experience altogether. God knows what is good for us now and in the future.  Whatever God does for us in the process of waiting on Him will be good for us, now and forever. This is because God is the only one who can declare the end from the beginning and things from ancient times not yet revealed (Isaiah 46:10).

There is nothing wrong with praying for the things you think are good for you.  But when the positive changes begin to happen, and it is not as you had wished, accept the miracle of God. That is because you may have asked wrongly without knowing, but knowing what is best for you, God decided to bless you with something different but better than what you had prayed for. In that case, it is wise to accept God’s miracles or gifts.

To reject positive changes after we have prayed, just because they fall short of our expectations, is not right. If you continue to wait thereafter, and expect something different despite what God has provided for you, you may encounter frustrations along the line. Therefore, it is essential to accept with gratitude the much or little that God has given to us and move forward with that.

The scripture says that we should pray without ceasing, BUT THAT in all things we should give thanks to God for that is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  Therefore, after praying to God for something, receive by faith whatever comes up.  Also, note that, in every seemingly bad situation, there is something good locked up in it, which ONLY gratitude or thanksgiving would unlock for us. When we are grateful for everything – whether good or bad, the miracle of God is unlocked immediately, and we begin to receive more satisfaction from the situation we find ourselves. Today’s word reminds us to be ready for the miracles that will enable us to fulfil God’s purpose only. Every negative situation in our life will be changed into a positive situation, all to the glory of God in Jesus name. Amen.

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ. Let thy will be done in my life so that I may abound in good works at all times. Thank you, father. AMEN.
