THEME: Preparing Mentally and Spiritually for a Blessed Year-End and A Fruitful New Year

PURPOSE: As we approach the end of the year, it is essential for us as Christians to reflect on our spiritual journey and prepare ourselves mentally and spiritually for the coming year. By aligning our hearts with God’s will, we can experience a year-end filled with gratitude and a new year filled with hope and blessings. In this sermon, we will explore biblical scriptures and daily exercises that will help us in this preparation process.

DAY 1 – 2 (SUNDAY 12TH AND MONDAY  13TH NOVEMBER 2023)

TITLE – CULTIVATE STILLNESS IN GOD’S PRESENCE

SCRIPTURE:

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” – Psalm 46:10

As we meditate on Psalm 46:10, we are reminded of the profound call to cultivate stillness in our lives. In the midst of life’s chaos and challenges, God beckons us to be still and know that He is God. This verse encapsulates the essence of finding peace and solace in the presence of the Almighty.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of our daily routines, it can be challenging to carve out moments of stillness. However, it is in these quiet moments that we can truly experience the presence of God. Being still doesn’t just refer to physical stillness; it encompasses a state of inner tranquility and spiritual calmness. It involves quieting our minds and hearts, allowing ourselves to be fully present with God.

When we embrace stillness, we open ourselves up to a deeper awareness of God’s sovereignty. We recognize that He is in control, regardless of the circumstances that surround us. In the silence, we find clarity and perspective, understanding that God’s plans far surpass our own.

Furthermore, as we cultivate stillness, we position ourselves to exalt God in every aspect of our lives. By quieting the noise of the world, we create space for His voice to resonate within us. In this sacred hush, we elevate His name above all else, acknowledging His greatness and majesty.

Today, let us heed the timeless wisdom of Psalm 46:10. Let us intentionally seek moments of stillness, knowing that in those moments, we encounter the very presence of God. As we do so, may His exaltation resound not only in our hearts but also throughout the nations and the earth.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

Set aside a few minutes each day to be still before God. Find a quiet place where you can disconnect from distractions. Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and focus on God’s presence. Use this time to listen to His voice, seek His guidance, and surrender your plans for the remaining part of the year, as well as the coming year.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help us to cultivate stillness in our hearts and minds, so that we may know Your presence and experience Your peace. May we exalt You in all we do in Jesus’ name, Amen.

FURTHER SCRIPTURES:  Exodus 14:14; Isaiah 30:15
