EMBRACING HIS DIVINE SPIRIT

16th SEPTEMBER 2022

”But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”- Matthew 6:33

One shocking truth we will come to learn as Christians is the fact that God desires us to embrace His divine Spirit in other to achieve spiritual growth and success in life. Embracing His divine Spirit is to attune with the heart and the soul of God right in you! The scripture says the kingdom of God is in you! Turning to Christ in you, to align with the divine spirit of God brings you to the domain of God’s power and providence.  God is an embodiment of His divine attributes of righteousness, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – (Gal 5: 19-21). You must always make sure you are closely bonded with God to gain access to his divine power, righteousness and other attributes.

How then do we tell if we are in tune with His divine Spirit? Please always watch these aspects of your life: ONE, Your thoughts. Do you think good, clean, positive thoughts? Are your thoughts godly? Or is evil sometimes on your mind? The righteousness of God indeed enveloped us by His grace from the moment God forgave us and gave us a new life in Christ Jesus; nevertheless, we have to continuously purify our thoughts and conducts and try to keep to the commandments of Jesus. Therefore, we must try to maintain that righteousness at all times. To purge yourself of impure thoughts, focus on truth, honesty, justice etc. TWO, Check your friendships. What kind of friends do you keep?  The scripture says; “Evil company corrupts good habits” (1 Corinthians 15:33). Just as a glass of water left in a room will eventually take on the temperature of that room, we will become like those with whom we associate, for better or worse. Third, Our Eyes; what do we watch or read? Are you able to say to yourself, like David did – “I will set no wicked thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me”? (Psalm 101:3). Fourth, check your conversation. How is your speech? Negative or positive? The scripture says, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Col. 4:6). FIFTH, check your lifestyle.  As Christians, it has been said that “you may be the only Bible some will ever read.” Therefore, your actions must speak louder than your words. We are to be examples of God’s way of life to everyone with whom we come in contact. (II Corinthians 5:20) You may think nobody is watching you; people judge your religion by the way you conduct yourself in the midst of others. Therefore, let your conduct reflect obedience to God’s Laws.

The word of God is telling you today to tune to God in you and embrace His divine Spirit and power. Only then will you achieve the power that cuts through every area of your life.

God’s way is of peace, Love, Justice, Harmony, Kindliness, Piety, Humility, Sincerity, Forgiveness, Tolerance, etc. We must imbibe these qualities so that we may access His divine Spirit in us. Although it is pretty challenging to keep to these qualities and attributes of God, the good news is that when we constantly make efforts to tune up to Him, He also gives us the power to imbibe all His ways and attributes and to become like Him.  The more closely bonded we are to God, the more ability we gain to overcome the stress of life! Ask yourself today, “am I tuned to God’s divine Spirit”?

PRAYERS

Father in the name of Jesus Christ; turn me away from every distraction of the world that tends to hoodwink me into believing or taking to wrong values. Lord, sanctify every of my action that I may continue to be worthy of your righteousness. Jesus, I desire to be like you, act like and speak like you. Keep me aligned with your divine Spirit and bring me to your divine presence. AMEN.
