HUMILITY GOES WITH SACRIFICE

14th MAY 2022

“Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.” – Mark 9:31-35

The year is almost half gone. An important step you have to take in life in to be successful, especially as we approach the second half of the year is humility; and you must be ready to make sacrifice same time. To be truly humble, you must be ready to swallow your ego; For Ego is the dragon in us which tend to mislead us all the times. The Ego does not see the reason to be humble or to make a sacrifice of any kind. The Ego seeks for importance and identity, it is the “I” or the “self” of a person. The ego would do anything to be seen or recognized. To be humble is a deliberate decision to lower your status for the purpose of achieving peace and fulfilment.

We know from God’s Word that he resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. How can we know that we are living in humility and ready to receive God’s blessings? Humility is the ability to be without pride or arrogance and it is the main character that should be seen in those who follow Jesus Christ. Jesus is the best example of someone who humbly followed God’s plan for His life.

Jesus demonstrated this principle through his suffering and death. By His suffering and death, Jesus won the greatest battle of all. He put himself last and eventually became the first. He defeated our greatest enemy – the devil. For that reason, he destroyed the power of death. He did that to prove to us that in sacrifice, we can gain tremendous power which enables us to solve all problems and to get to our desired goal. Jesus also taught his disciples that, any one of them who wanted to be the first or the greatest among them must first become the last and servant of all.

So many of us desire to be successful in life, but we are not ready to make a sacrifice. The sacrifice we talk about here is your ability to forego personal gratification for the sake of a desired end. Today, the word of God says if you want to be a leader, you must be prepared to be a servant as well. The first quality of a leader is his ability to serve others. This means that a leader must be humble and be ready to bear or take the errors or inadequacies of others in other to get to the desired goal.

Today, the word of God calls you to bend over, not because you are stupid but in other to avoid distractions on your way to success. Having seen the bigger picture, it becomes imperative to aim for the prize, rather than get stuck on the way. Humility and sacrifice then become virtues to enable you to conquer. Beloved, there is something about being polite and humble regardless of the situation that surrounds you, which makes God look upon you with mercy and ensures that you win in the end.

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, today I receive strength to overcome stupid and foolish arguments causing me to derail from the path of success. Lord, I declare that from this day onward, I am filled with the spirit of kindness and tolerance and I am lifted above every human weakness. Father, I declare total authority over my affairs today and I am empowered to teach not resentful. I now receive the power to exercise restraints in the use of words. I declare I am now quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Lord, I declare that your righteousness and power rest upon my life Now. Therefore, I now overcome every of my infirmity. AMEN
