PUT UP THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

30th OCTOBER 2021

“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” – Romans 12:2

Our attitude defines how much progress we make in life.  In our definition of attitude today, we are merely looking at our mental and emotional responses to the circumstances of life. How do we react to the various experiences of life? We can choose either to view a situation negatively or positively. When we are optimistic regarding any problem, we allow God to work with us. Still, when we are negative, pessimistic and fearful, we will enable the devil to strike at us. The choice is ours.

Some people are confirmed, pessimists! They cannot change. They deliberately decided to have a negative mental and emotional response to every circumstance. At the same time, the optimist takes a positive look at the same situation and transforms his life for good.  We ought to live based on the principles carved out from the word of God.  If we choose not to follow God’s word or even, His guides based on our negative attitude, we have ourselves to blame, not God.

Today, the word of God warns us to imbibe a positive and optimistic attitude to life. The progress we make in life is dependent on our right or positive attitude to our various life experiences. Having a good attitude will lead us to right thinking, right-believing and proper behaviour, and finally, to victory, success and breakthrough.

Also, our attitude determines our eternal destiny, i.e. how we finally spend eternity. Nowadays, our attitude toward sin has become scary. While some say nothing like sin, others are indifferent. But God loves an attitude of repentance – you must agree with God that you have failed in some instances and turn to Him for forgiveness. Hence the scripture says, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).

PRAYER

In the name of Jesus Christ, Father instils in me the consciousness of right attitude and change to enable me to behold and live a life befitting of a child of God. Lord, let me be genuinely worthy of righteousness in Christ Jesus so I may fulfil my eternity by your word and promises. AMEN.
