THE HEALING POWER OF THE LORD TO OVERCOME CRAVINGS AND ADDICTIONS

6th MAY 2021

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” – John 6:63.

When we talk of addictions; we refer to those things we eat, drink, and do, and upon which our life is wholly dependent. These things include Drugs, medicine, foods, drinks and habits. We must control our cravings and addictions to check on the challenges of life. Most challenges we encounter in life results from our inability to control our appetites, urges and habits.

Basically, life is dependent on four major things; food, water, medicine and the WORD of God. We have to eat and drink and take medicine to remain fit and strong all the time. Aside from those taking special or regular medications for ailments, it is normal to also hunger for a certain food, drinks, and even to yearn for a type of food or drink. But when you become obsessed and crave for these things, and you fret and fall sick without them, then you have to be careful, for this is a sign of spiritual dislocation or disability.

Perhaps we need to understand the value of life, and to know that our inner spirit must always be in tune with its divine origin, which is God. When there is a gap between God and us, our emotions try to fill the gap by what we can bite and chew, but that will not solve the problem; we have to get connected with God through His word, which only the knowledge of Jesus Christ, his power and grace can give to us.

The word of God is telling us today that the flesh can do nothing without the spirit. It is the Spirit that gives life to the flesh. Our body must be linked with the spirit to draw vitality and strength. Therefore, while we stick to medicine as prescribed to restore good health, we should also hold onto Jesus Christ, for he is the bridge between God and us. Our healing and rehabilitation come from within by bridging our inner spirit with God through the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the power of his saving grace. When we do that, every gap in our psyche, mental and emotional bodies becomes filled with God’s spirit, giving us healing and power to withstand cravings and addictions.

How do we proceed with this exercise? By regular meditation on God and His word. Remember, the word of God is God; and the word of God is also spirit and life. We have to regularly read and meditate on the import of the scriptures with prayers and supplication. We also have to be in constant touch with the Spirit of Christ in us through regular meditation and prayers. On each passing day, focus on the spirit of Christ, and request that He covers you with His power; Do actually see yourself receiving the healing that you desire.  See yourself in perfect health with the Spirit of Christ touching you deep down in your spirit and body; feel His healing touch deep in you! When we constantly do all these things, we will gradually be filled up with His Spirit. Also, after a while, you will experience a change, a new surge of the Healing power of God vibrating in you and enveloping you and your surroundings. This is the Spirit of God which quickens the flesh and makes us healthy and strong all the time.

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I accept your word today, and I declare I am healed of all my infirmities. Lord, refresh me with your breath of life and renew my spirit. Align my spirit with yours and bring me into a perfect understanding of thy divine principles for health and wealth. Today, I silence every addiction and cravings in me; your Word heals me. AMEN.
