“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” - Romans 8:37-39
This verse talks about intimate connection with God. Friendship with God entails that we become intimately connected with God TRULY in our hearts so we can experience His love. By now, you should understand the fact that performance mentality does not really help in creating a strong bond or intimate connection with God. By performance mentality, I mean activities such as spiritual observances. Somehow, I discovered that it is not about what you do, and how you do it, where it is done. It is all about knowing who God really is, TRULY loving Him and believing that He truly loves you deeply. Jesus Christ shows clearly that intimate relationship with God is not all about observance to rules, rituals or even religion; these things are done only to impress people and cannot make us attain the knowledge of God. On this very issue, the Master never agreed with the Pharisees and the Sadducees. To know God better is to look at Jesus. Jesus says that if we have seen him, we have seen God. Therefore, there is no further revelation of God, except as revealed by Jesus Christ. Jesus presented God as gentle, kind, merciful and full of love. Many of us were taught to fear God and to see Him as an angry or hard-to-please taskmaster. But Jesus tells us that God is someone entirely different!
He assures us that when we pray we don’t have to be afraid of not being able to perfectly follow certain rules or rituals, but we can pray with confidence that our Father in heaven loves us and will bring us into perfect alignment with His principles and laws. What we neglect to do in terms of observances will definitely be perfected by His spirit, IF ONLY WE BELIEVE IN HIM, OBEY HIM and also realizes our inadequacies. When we believe in God, He teaches us how to align with His divine principles that will make miracles to occur in our lives; we just find ourselves obeying the divine principles, not by striving to do these things, But by His spirit bringing us into perfect understanding of all things. Our life is changed positively, JUST BECAUSE WE TRULY LOVE HIM, BELIEVE IN HIM, and ARE READY TO FOLLOW AND OBEY HIM. The word of God reminds us today that God loves us despite our weaknesses, and He is ready to change our lives for good. God’s love is steadfast and unchanging; God’s love comforts us; God’s love is revealed to us through Jesus Christ and God’s love is poured into us through the Holy Spirit. Today, take a few minutes to meditate on God’s love and ask the Lord to show how you can FEEL HIM, ALIGN WITH HIM, KNOW HIM, and how to SHOW His love to others in your life. When we realize God’s love which is universal, we no longer have to strive to make good things happen in our lives. Rather, God’s spirit brings us into perfect alignment with His divine principles and we begin to experience breakthrough.
