‘To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said’, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:31-32
True disciples of Jesus believe that He speaks the truth about God and the Scriptures. They also know that He is who He claims to be. Jesus says, “Then you will know the truth.” “You” refers to those who are true disciples of Jesus WHO HOLD TO HIS TEACHINGS. Only true disciples who hold to Jesus teachings will know the truth! More than that, their eyes are opened to a greater understanding of the truth (Reference: 1 John 5:20). As a disciple, you have to follow the Master and do what He says. You have to do away with those things that are NOT part of Jesus! The freedom Jesus refers to is not freedom from political power, but freedom from sin and ignorance. Jesus explains further; “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin” (John 8:34). Being a slave to sin is the ultimate bondage. Sin is a trick of the devil to hold you permanently in bondage so he can have the opportunity to feed on your fortune and happiness. The word of God is telling us today to know the truth, and let the truth set us free from the bondage of sin. Jesus is the TRUTH (John 14:6). The truth about life, and how to survive and achieve breakthrough and to experience a life of abundance is in Christ, and spoken by Him. Knowing the Truth will set you free —free from sin, free from condemnation, and free from death (Romans 6:22; 8:1–2). Beloved in Christ, Now is the time to reexamine your belief.
Do you believe in the undiluted message of Christ, His commands and principles of life? It is true that every believer has a gift of righteousness which places him in a good relationship with God, but still, he must not dwell in sin; he must break away completely from following the devil. The devil places his victims in a perpetual bondage. Starting from today, “Live as someone who is free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as a servant of God” (1 Peter 2:16). One of the reasons we suffer is due to sin. If you follow the master’s teachings, definitely you will be free from sin. His teachings contain the key to eternal life. When a believer faces trials and tests, the grace of God covers him throughout the periods of trials and the dark moments. But if a believer dwells in sin, he has chosen to suffer as a result of sin; the losses he suffers are sometimes monumental or irreversible. Jesus is right there with you in your living room; receive His truth – His message and commands today and be set free. Accepting His truth will open a new life for you; a life of expanded faith, a life of contentment; a life of peace and harmony; a life of fulfillment and breakthrough.
