“Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” - Galatians 4:6
When a child cries out, there must be a reason. Either the child is hungry or he is dissatisfied with certain thing. A child’s cry draws attention to his immediate needs – which is either to be fed or get a redress. But the cry of the heart is not filled by rules. Like the need to eat when hungry or quench our thirst, the heart cries out for the need of relationship to be filled. The cry of every human heart is for the love and intimacy of the one who created it. This brings us to the question of our relationship with God. Do we believe in the existence of God? For a great many people, they believe in the existence of God, but sure do not have a cordial relationship with Him. And that has created a wide gulf between them and God. God exists, but relationally, we are distant from Him, we see Him as unreachable. Again, we come to church service and sing hymns about how great God is, but we don't often feel or know how close He is to us. We know God is Lord, but we struggle to have that intimate relationship with Him as our Father. How do we develop that intimacy or harmony with God?
We can only harmonize with God when we are in deep sympathy with Him. Expressed differently, we begin to attune or harmonize with God when we operate on the same frequency as Him. This means we have to share certain common features with God through which we are able to harmonize with Him. The word of God today says because you are sons of God, then you have received the spirit of God which cries ABBA Father! This means you flowing into God and harmonizing with His holiness and power. If that is the case, then the spiritual harmony or synergy should take us to a different dimension where we begin to experience the power of God in a different way. When our spirit cries ABBA Father, then it means we have become one with God – this is the spiritual synergy that makes us sons of God. This morning, I want you to ask yourself some basic questions; are you truly attuned or in harmony with God? Has your spirit flowed into the Spirit of God in such a way that your Spirit cries ABBA Father in recognition of God’s spirit? Can you feel the power of God flowing in and out of you? If not, then you must pray and ask God for answer and proper direction.
