“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” – Proverbs 4:23
What you are thinking right now, is important. This is because your thoughts can trigger such things as fear, jealousy and bitterness, but they can also trigger such things as gratefulness, peace, and contentment. What are the sources of these thoughts? Sometimes, we are rehearsing conversations we had or heard. At other times, we’re letting our imagination gallop without control. In most cases, we are simply building tension and anxiety by worrying about possibilities that may never occur, and might not even be reasonable to consider, but telling ourselves that danger looms. This can be a self-fulfilling prophecy – which is very bad. Please put your senses under control. What you visualize or listen to can influence your mind. The people you associate with can also influence your thoughts. Surround yourself with positive minded people, and expose yourself only to wholesome viewing and hearing. Today, the word of God reminds you that your mind is a fertile soil for your thoughts to grow, and like seeds, thought grows to bear fruits of same kind like the thoughts planted.
Whatever you are today is a product of your thoughts. Therefore, start by removing poisoned and “virused” thoughts from your mind and then renew your mind in order to become transformed by the power of God. Use these keys to control negative thoughts:
- Pray as much as you worry. Replace those negative thoughts with God’s truth in His word.
- Do not believe everything you think or imagined. Instead, request the Holy Spirit to guide you into perfect understanding of any worrisome situation.
- Imbibe self-discipline. Exercise moderation in your worldly affairs.
