“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10
Choosing a profession or a vocation for oneself is a serious affair; so many jobs to choose from and not sure of which one would be profitable on the long run. Some have dropped their avowed profession and taken to something new entirely with the hope of living a better life! There is no doubt that we are cut out for different professions. This means that we have to determine what profession will suit us best. In choosing a profession, we need guidance from counselors and other therapists. We also need more of divine guidance. We easily find good jobs, or earn more profits from our present jobs when, through the works of our hands, we are able to help others to overcome their greatest problems. More profits come to us through service to others in the course of our work. I am not saying we should be Father Christmas or philanthropists if that is not our intentions. But, we can at least be humane and be ready to help others in distress. The more you help others in the course of your work, the more progress, profits and promotion you get. To help others in the course of your work is to really help without expecting or getting anything in return. Your reward is divine! Consequently, when you are looking for a job, or confused about what career you want, the guiding principle is to first ask yourself; “in what way do I wish to serve the interest of humanity through my career”? Your desire to help others and the type of service you wish to render to others will automatically align you with divine providence.
As the coast becomes clearer, you are attracted to a job which will best serve your desires to help others. Are you currently planning to choose a career? First, you must consider how you want to help others in distress as soon as you get something doing. Your desire and readiness to help others in distress through your job is the miracle you require to launch a profitable employment. I am aware that some of you have been looking for jobs without success. Yes, this is the time to redirect your spirit to work best for you. How? Simply make a pledge to uplift humanity, or serve the glory of God through your job when you get one! Make sure to keep to your promise! Your promise to God opens the way and grants success in your aspiration or job hunt. The scripture says, “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”(Proverbs 11:25) The word of God today wants us to bless others through the work of our hands. If you have worked for a long while without progress, ask yourself, “In what way have I helped others in the course of my work? Further to this, our move to the top is accelerated when we serve God and humanity together in our chosen career. Our wealth is also retained and lasts from generation to generation when God is glorified in its foundation (2 Corinthians 9:7-9) Choosing the best career, is not to choose an easier job so to say, but rather, we ought to make our job “Christ centered, serving the glory of God through serving others.” If this is your aspiration, God will guide you. Seek him supremely in these ways, and let your heart be your guide.
