“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” - Romans 12:2
Our attitude defines how we do things generally. It is our mental and emotional responses to the circumstances of life. How do we react to the various experiences of life? We can choose to either view a situation negatively or positively. When we are positive regarding a situation, we give God an opportunity to work with us; but when we are negative, pessimistic and fearful; we give the devil an opportunity to strike at us. The choice is basically ours. Some people are confirmed pessimists! They cannot change. They make a deliberate decision to have a negative mental and emotional response to every circumstance, while the optimist takes a positive look at same situation and transforms his life for good.
We live based on the principles carved out from the word of God. We may choose not to follow God’s word or even, His principles depending on our attitude. Today, the word of God warns us to imbibe a positive and optimistic attitude to life. The progress we make in life is dependent on our right or positive attitude. If we have a good attitude, it will lead us to right thinking, right believing and right behavior, and finally, to victory, success and breakthrough. Also, our attitude determines our eternal destiny i.e. how we finally spend eternity. This becomes important because our attitude to sin has become scary. While some say, nothing like sin, others are indifference. But God loves an attitude of repentance – you must agree with God that you have failed, and turning to Him for forgiveness. Hence the scripture says; "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 john 1:9).
