“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30
In recent times, several nations of the world have witnessed, and are still witnessing some kind of atrocities, violence and upheavals, some of which have left very serious dents and cracks on all aspects of human existence. A clear example of these upheavals is the present invasion of Ukraine by Russia resulting in wanton killing of human beings and destruction of properties.
The effects of these unwholesome situations are that human and material capital has continued to dwindle with only a very few percentages of the populace having access to basic necessities of life. Consequently, so many are disillusioned and feeling helpless in a world of strife and imbalance such as this.
What should be the attitude of every Christian? We must strive at all times to restore harmony, peace and good governance in our country. That we can do through prayers; accepting to lend our voice, no matter how lonely, against every social, moral and economic vice. We must also be bold to show perfect examples for others to follow. Only by these attitudes would we be able to restore harmony, balance and productivity to a deprived country.
The word of God tells us today to learn from Ezekiel 22:30 and become those who stand in the gap, who will lift up our nation with all its favours and faults before the throne of God, and pray that He continues to work in our midst. The Saints must be neutral at all times, with a clear conscience to uphold the truth by holding our leaders accountable while praying for their wisdom and well-being. When our nation is healthy and prosperous, we are equally prospered and blessed in return.
PRAYER
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray this day for the prosperity of my country (Mention). Father, arise and take total authority of the nation and let your sovereign power reign supreme. I draw strength from Proverbs 21:1, which says, “the king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will’. Therefore, I decree and I declare that our leaders are guided by God and every structure is working perfectly well. AMEN
