HOW TO CLAIM A NEW OPPORTUNITY BY FAITH (PART 1 OF 3)

30th MARCH 2022

“And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” –  Hebrews 11:6

We all desire to experience an economic shift in our life, so great is that desire that we instantly begin to feel and see ourselves at the next level of greatness and fulfilment. What exactly do we desire to experience in life? We desire to have so many beautiful things that life can throw back at us! There is no limit to the good things a man can experience in life. This is because God’s abundance is vast and limitless! Coupled with the power of aspiration, a man would always aspire to experience every good thing he can dream of!

To experience a life of abundance, some doors of opportunities are bound to open at some point in our life. However, the fact that some doors of opportunities have opened does not mean that God is the one opening them up. They may just have opened up to follow a natural course of events. But the fact remains that not every opening is good for us. While some opportunities could lead us to a life full of abundance, some may actually lead to pain, losses or death! The choice of which opportunity to embrace is basically ours, not God choosing for us! But how do we know the doors or opportunities created by God for us and those not from God?

Putting your trust in God does not mean that you have to move blindly, even after you had prayed, without due consideration. There is a difference between obedience to the will of God and forcing God to accept what we wish for ourselves. The difference between the two is that, in the first place, you accept the will of God, but in the second instance, you want your will to be done!

There are many ways of finding out or knowing if God has actually opened certain doors for our benefit or not. Nevertheless, we will limit this devotional to an effective consideration of the role of faith in discerning which opportunity God created for us.

How do we situate faith in a new opportunity? Today’s word tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God! That means that we should trust God in our decision-making process, and to believe that with Him, all things about us will turn out good. Nevertheless, to trust God and believe in Him in realizing what a new opportunity holds for us has to be done following a set of principles.

·        Is the new opportunity in agreement with God’s Word? Many Christians see opportunities to make more money as an open door from God, even though the opportunity will make them consistently violate God’s commandments. God will not lead you toward an opportunity that contradicts what He clearly says in His Word. In fact, God does not open a door that would require personal compromise or disobedience for you to enter. God does not work like that. Therefore, if there is a compromise in any way, or we have to bend the Scripture to justify our opportunity or open door, then it is likely not a door that God is opening for us. I would call anything that contradicts His Word a temptation rather than an open door from God. Remember, God does not tempt us! (James 1:13-14)

·        Has this has the opportunity been confirmed by at least two witnesses? When it comes to God confirming something in His Word, we must be sure that the testimony of at
least has confirmed the issue involved, two witnesses just like Jesus advised in Matthew 18:15-16. Therefore, examine if any other person aside from you shares the same opinion in the matter at stake. Other times, other testimonies can be drawn from the scriptures, any other person offering a professional opinion, or a well-respected person grounded in the Scripture. Through prayers, discernment, and seeking godly counsel, you should be able to tell if that golden opportunity and its confirmations are truly coming from God.

Today’s word tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. In seeking God, however, we must follow a set of principles to enable us to discern God’s plan and purpose for us. This means that we must take extra time to test if the spirit urging us to move forward with the new opening is from God or not. Therefore, beloved in Christ, today is a date to set things right again!

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank you for Grace and the Faith to hear you today. Father, I pray that you reveal yourself to me in this new opportunity. Thank you, Father. AMEN
