“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work – 2 Corinthians 9:8
Flexibility is a key aspect of spirituality. That is correct to the extent that nothing is static in the spiritual realm. Everything in the spirit realm is in continuous motion. That is the reason everything on earth is going through changes all the time. As the world goes through changes, so also are our desires changing to make room for the changes taking place in the world. The changes on earth and the spiritual world will continue as long as God exists.
What then is the importance of this lesson? This lesson is to teach us that God is not limited in His physical expression. This means that God’s creative power is not delimited in its efficacy to create anything for us. The reason we sometimes fail to manifest what we want is because we often ask the Lord for the things that are not relevant to us, or the things that may not assist us in the fulfilment of our mission in life.
Usually, God does for us the things that are relevant to us following the changes in the world. That means God will give us the ability to adapt to changes in our environment. That is the will of God for us –the ability to adapt successfully to every situation and circumstance in our environment. Therefore, the will of God and His providence are interwoven with our desires. Therefore, if we ask God for anything, He will surely respond according to His will, not according to our own will; and when God gives, He adds no sorrow to it.
The mistake that some people make is that we become obsessed with their desires and pursue them violently and selfishly without regard to God’s will for us. The fact that we got what we wanted without payer does not mean that God gave it to us. Remember, God has already given us the power to pick and choose the things of life as we desire, but He expects us to exercise positive discretion in our choices. If we make choices on our own outside the will of God, then we shall be responsible for the consequences of our choice.
The word of God today makes us understand the fact that, although God has the power to do all things for us, he may not grant to us all that we prayed for if those things will not make us abound in every good work. Therefore, endeavour to pray for the will of God to happen in your life. God’s will brings no sorrow.
PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, let thy will be done in my life so that I may abound in good works at all times. Thank you, father. AMEN.
