FEAR NOT THE DEVIL

7th DECEMBER 2022

Finally, be strong in the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” – Ephesians 6:10

The devil is seen to be the reason for our spiritual warfare encounter, but the scripture tells us that; “for this reason, the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy every work of the devil, and effects of sin” (1 John 3:8). The Lord has already died, and so every scheme of the devil is dead. However, we must remain in that glorious state of deliverance by constantly being in the Spirit of the Lord. That means we have to be close to the master in deeds and obedience. When we are with the Lord in Spirit at all times, the devil is powerless against us; It’s a simple, practical way of living a healthy and safe life.

Also, we have to learn to pray away negative vibrations around us.  For some undeniable reasons, some people still believe that the devil or demons are more powerful than us; this is not correct. We are more powerful, as Jesus has given us a new life, which is indestructible. In fact, we operate in a realm higher than the negative powers and schemes of the devil.  But disobedience brings us down again.

Jesus offers a good example to us of how to ward off evil by combating each temptation he had with the words “it is written.” The Word of God is the most powerful weapon against the temptations of the devil. The word of God teaches us today to stand strong in the Lord to defeat the devil at all times. Our wrong deeds and actions are capable of inviting destruction upon us.

So, we have to avoid the wrong attitudes and follow our Master in obedience to His commands. Together with these two, we add the power of prayers, enabling us to use “the sword of the spirit” effectively.  We can defeat adversities when we take authority with God in prayer by praying. If we feel attacked, we must not waver in faith; rather, we must continue to trust the promises of God and believe strongly in His word, not minding the severity of the attacks.

To succeed in spiritual warfare, do the following:

·        Act from the point of love. Rather than invoke curses and calamity upon the perceived enemy; leave vengeance to God; He knows the best way to deal with the enemies. Do not fight the enemies on behalf of God; Let God fight for himself. When you pray, therefore, ask God to shield and protect you and your family.

·        Stop talking to the devil directly, you have no business with him. When you talk to the devil, you create an opportunity for him to attack you, and you are easily led astray. Talk to God instead; focus on God and confess His word upon your life.

·        Rely on God’s power, not on your own limited resources. We draw on the power of the Scriptures—the Word of God is the Spirit’s sword.

·         We pray in perseverance and holiness as we constantly pray to God.

·         Change your attitude to that of a true child of God in deeds and obedience to God.

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I stand on your word today, and I declare I am delivered from bondages and every evil machination. Lord, speak life onto me and fill me up with your spirit. AMEN
