“But do not forget to do good and to share, for, with such sacrifices, God is well pleased. Hebrews” – 13:16
No one is to go through life alone, for we are closely connected by some form of physical and Spiritual relationships that requires some measure of obligation towards one another. One of the ways you can demonstrate your love for the Lord is to be compassionate and caring towards those you encounter here on Earth. Even small gestures can mean a great deal.
There is no end to whatever sacrifice we can make for the people around us. For Christians, that’s first and foremost where God comes in. God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us fulfill the Scriptures and to grant us victory over negative Spirits. Jesus loves us in an extraordinary, incredible way. Therefore, we must take the love we receive from him and find ways to bring that love and goodwill into our community.
If life has given you blessings, it’s important to share them with your community. That could mean volunteering with a local charity or donating to a good cause for your community. For others, sharing blessings might be as simple as having an uplifting conversation with someone or lending emotional support to a friend going through hard times.
Today’s Scripture explains that one crucial way to demonstrate your love for the Lord is to take action here on Earth and lend a helping hand to the needy. Further to that, Jesus says in Matthew 5:42, “Give to those who ask, and don’t refuse those who wish to borrow from you.” It is, therefore, an act of excellent service to show compassion and love to the people we meet daily.
Bringing the Lord’s love into your community is a powerful act. It may not always be easy, but as a person of faith, God calls upon you to serve others and bring His light to them. In many ways, being charitable is a reward in itself — for many of our acts of love and kindness to others bring rewards to our efforts.
PRAYER
In the name of Jesus Christ, Father purify and sanctify me continually; grant me your Spirit to teach me how best to love. Father, show me how to make sacrifices for the sake of the people I meet daily. AMEN.
