BE WHAT YOU ARE

26th NOVEMBER 2021

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

All believers have died with Christ; their old sinful nature has been nailed to the cross and buried with Christ, and just like God raised Christ to a new life, so the believers are raised to walk in newness of life – (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:14-16) That new person that was raised is what scripture refers to in 2 Corinthians 5:17 as the “new creation.” – THE NEW YOU! That is a new creation made possible by God alone, brought about by the will of the father – not inherited (John 1:13)

What has died with the old are the things that we loved most, such as our old natural pride, love of sin, the supreme love of self, self-promotion, and self-justification. The new creature looks inwards toward Christ instead of outwardly toward self.

One good thing about THE NEW YOU is that it delights in the things of God and rejects the things of the flesh and the world. For the new creation, everything in the world has become new, especially God’s things such as the scriptures, which become more beautiful with a new understanding. Nature becomes fresh and new, speaking forth the praises of God, a new kind of love and feelings towards everyone – family, enemies and friends. A new moral outlook that beholds all things with a purity of the heart seeks to imitate Christ in all things.

The scripture reminds us today about whom we indeed are in Christ. As a new creation, you must not continue to live in sin; if you fall into sin at any time, quickly make restitution and rejection and promptly follow the right path. Often, we hear people say, “I am in Christ” or “I am born again”. If that is the case, you must live the life of new creation in Christ. You must understand your new status to be:

1.     That the spirit of Christ has spiritually transformed you, and you have become like Christ. You are no longer you, but Christ has taken hold of your entire being, and you have become like Him. Therefore, be conscious of His power and glory in you.

2.     When you are in Christ, your attitude and character are completely changed to become “Christlike” – full of compassion, love, kindness and mercy.

3.     That when you are genuinely born again and are in Christ, “You have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator” (Colossians 3:10). You have been made new in Christ, and now you are being renewed day by day with knowledge and new life of abundance.

4.     The new creation is no longer a slave to sin; you now have the power to live above sin and reject sinfulness. You have become a wondrous creation of God, created in His mind, by His power and for His glory.

Start today to live the new life in Christ – a life of fulfilment, power, peace and harmony!

PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce sin and every form of disobedience to your command. Father, let me genuinely live my identity as a newborn in Christ. I declare this day that I am a new creation in Christ, and sin and death have no power over me anymore. AMEN.
