“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation ; the old has gone, the new has come!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
All believers have died with Christ; their old sinful nature have been nailed to the cross and buried with Christ, and just like Christ was raised by God to a new life, so the believers are raised to walk in a newness of life - (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:14-16) That new person that was raised up is what scripture refer to in 2 Corinthians 5:17 as the “new creation.” - THE NEW YOU! This is a new creation made possible by God alone, brought about by the will of the father – not inherited (John 1:13) What has died with the old are the things that we loved most such as our old natural pride, love of sin, our supreme love of self and self-promotion and self-justification. The new creature looks outwardly toward Christ instead of inwardly toward self. One good thing about THE NEW YOU is that, he delights in the things of God and rejects the things of the flesh and the world. For the new creation, everything in the world have becomes new, especially the things of God such as the scriptures which becomes more beautiful with a new understanding. Nature becomes fresh and new- speaking forth the praises of God; a new kind of love and feelings towards everyone – family, enemies and friends. The scripture reminds us today about whom we truly are in Christ. As a new creation, you must not continue to live in sin; if you fall into sin at any time, quickly make restitution and rejection and quickly follow the right path.
Often time, we hear people say, “I am in Christ” or “I am born again” If that is the case, you must live the life of a new creation in Christ. When you are truly born again and are in Christ, “You have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator” (Colossians 3:10). You have been made new in Christ; and now you are being renewed day by day with knowledge and fresh life of abundance. 4.
