THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRUSTING IN GOD AND PUTTING GOD TO TEST

September 13th 2018

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths” - Proverbs 3:5-6

A basic Christian attitude is to place complete dependence on God, as every good thing ultimately comes from Him. But we must be rational and cautious in doing that. For instance, Jesus did not have to jump down from the temple pinnacle to prove that he trusted God. Rather, he employed tactics and wisdom to evade from the tricks of the devil. Also, to depend on God alone does not mean we should dispense with the possibilities of others helping us to fulfill our desires. God acts through human elements in order to fix things for us. Were it not so, man would not have developed capacity to adapt to his environment. While you may discuss your plans with others, you must refrain from placing total reliance on anyone, except God. It is the nature of man to disappoint his fellow man, and to place obstacles on each other’s part to self-fulfillment. But when we place our trust totally in God, we experience a spiritual shift, such that more opportunities begin to unfold to us. Further to this issue, I like to remind us that it is sensible to obtain Medicare when you are ill, rather than place all your hope in God, and say, “our trust is in God”! That will only put God to test. This is because; God has already provided us with medicine and health officers. He also gave us brains to think properly. In this very example, total dependence on God entails that we commit to Medicare while still believing that God would cover us with His healing power. Therefore, employ rational thinking and act with caution while committing to God in faith same time. I do not know what problems you are facing right now. But I want you to commit all into the hands of God. At every point in life, when we are experiencing fears and anxiety, we must let go of our problems, and let God IN for He is the great restorer.

Henceforth, you must employ a dual approach in solving your problems: place total reliance in God, while also solving your problems on the human level. God will definitely give you the faith you require to make it through hard times. Learn total dependence on God, by doing the following: 1) Prayer – present your request to God, listen to His directives and proceed as instructed. 2) Be guided by the scriptures – Ensure that what you do is in consonance with the scriptures. 3) Be Rational in your thoughts and cautious in your action. 4) Live for the Lord – Avoid sinful disposition and dedicate yourself to God. The grace of God is made stronger in us when we are closer to God. 6) Refuse to worry and abide in Christ - God cares for us and would always rise up for us in any situation. To be anxious despite trusting God is to doubt God and His Word.

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I surrender totally to you today, for your word says you are my protector and my provision, therefore, I shall not want. Lord, today I offer myself as a living sacrifice; therefore, I declare your grace makes me stronger in my weaknesses. Thank you, father, for fulfilling all my needs. AMEN
