“Paul also prayed for others, and says, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13
Spiritual emptiness is a regular occurrence in life. The emptiness is a result of a deep inner void in our spirit, separating us from the love and peace of God, consequent upon which we suffer lack of comfort, happiness, security, and confidence or faith in life generally. During moments of spiritual emptiness, we are depressed and unable to do anything. Our jobs suffer, and our goals are affected due to a lack of focus.
First of all, the inner void is caused by a lack of spiritual alignment with the Divine Spirit of God as the inner man is not allowed to feed on divine essence, which only the Spirit of God can provide through the soul to the physical body. Although the presence of a void takes time to manifest, it can be triggered off by certain unfortunate incidents such as the loss of a dear one, family issues relating to spouses and children, betrayal and breakups etc.
The void is a state of spiritual lack. But sometimes, in the course of life, the void does align with other external situations of lack to cause pain, fear, loneliness, unhappiness, insecurity, disorientation, hopelessness etc. When that happens, only God can fill the inner void so created. In filling the void, God gives us His love and peace to fill our inner void.
One thing that brings about a void in our life is the lack of belief in God and in Jesus Christ. A gradual shift of your mind to believing rightly will cause the inner void to disappear.
The first sign of depression is mood changes or a deep feeling of unhappiness. Therefore, when you begin to experience mood swings, start to call forth the Divine Spirit to fill you up; Persistent prayers will shift the victim’s psyche to align his inner man with the divine Spirit of God. Seek God even in your broken state, and He will hear you. Psalm 40:1-2 says: “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand”. In addition to prayers, do these:
1. Immerse yourself in truth daily.
2. Practice gratitude.
3. Harness the power of truth-filled affirmations or declarations.
4. Meditate on Scripture.
5. Make time to dream without limits.
6. Declutter anything that holds you down.
7. Make time to be alone.
8. Change your scenery.
PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I need your comfort as I feel a deep inner void right now. Father, fill me up now.
