Today’s Scriptures: “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do” - (Gal 5:16-17).
As humans, we are programmed to bear two types of fruits in life. These are the fruits of the flesh and that of the spirit. The fruits of the flesh are; “sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these” (Gal 5:19-21a) On the other hand, the fruits of the spirit are; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Gal 5:22-23). Of these two, we must strive to bear the fruits of the spirit as children of God. The Holy Spirit gives the power to bear the fruits of the Spirit, only if we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. To become worthy in the sight of the Holy Spirit, we must first crucify the flesh with its passions and desires in order for the Holy Spirit to strengthen and sanctify us. The fruits of the spirit are to serve the glory of God, and as you continue to serve the Glory of God by thy fruits, God opens your way to fulfillment by releasing Grace upon your life.
Jesus says; “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7) The word of God is telling us today to strive to bear the fruits of the spirit, for in them lie the power to overcome – the power to be victorious. The major reason we dwell in the flesh is because we are yet to have a personal relationship with Christ. To develop a personal relationship with Christ, we have to: 1. Repent and be truly converted to Christ. 2. Open to the Holy Spirit and request for a better understanding of the scriptures 3. Pray and seek Jesus Christ and develop a personal relationship with him.
Lord Jesus Christ, today you abide in me, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I am now completely inside of you. Lord, I declare I now bear bountifully the fruits of the spirit. I have now become an ambassador of thy kingdom in righteousness, AMEN.
