TRUE FREEDOM: A DIVINE GIFT

Today is Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration. We therefore dedicate today’s devotional to Nigeria. As we celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, let us reflect on the true meaning of freedom. It is not merely the absence of colonial rule, but a state of liberation from the chains that bind our souls and our nation.

True freedom is found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He offers us liberation from the burdens of disease, ignorance, and poverty. These are the scourges that have plagued our nation for far too long.

To achieve true independence, we must embrace the teachings of Christ. We must love God with all our hearts and love our neighbours as ourselves. This is the foundation upon which a just and prosperous nation is built.

Let us strive to be doers of the word of God. Let us be compassionate, generous, and forgiving. Let us work together to build a Nigeria where everyone has access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for a better life.

As we celebrate our independence, let us also recommit ourselves to the ideals of democracy, justice, and equality. Let us strive to create a nation where every citizen is valued and respected.

Just as a rider directs the horse towards a desired destination, so too must we direct our lives towards the goal of true freedom. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to guide us on this journey, empowering us to overcome obstacles and achieve our full potential.

May God bless Nigeria and guide us on the path to true freedom.

PRAYER

Lord, we thank you for the gift of independence. Help us to use this freedom wisely and to build a nation that is just, prosperous, and filled with hope. Grant us the courage to overcome the challenges we face and the wisdom to make the right choices. Empower us with your Holy Spirit, so that we may be guided and directed towards true freedom. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
