“Again, he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus, saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live” – Ezekiel 37:4-5
It is imperative to note that challenges will not cease to come up in our lives. What is essential in life is that we are focused and hopeful and have faith in God to see us through our various challenges.
I am sure we know what bones are and what dried bone could likely represent. Bones are the earthly traces of the dead and seem to last forever because they are indestructible life. God asked Ezekiel if the dried bones could live again, and he is essentially asking him if he had faith in Him to restore the bones.
Ezekiel answered, “only God can tell whether dry bones would live again”. At that point, it was apparent that Ezekiel was disturbed and not sure. Maybe we can conclude that his faith failed. But God understood things and gave courage to Ezekiel to prophesy to the dried bone; The dried bones rose again!
Beloved, in times like this, when all hope is lost, it is important to take note of one of the most profound statements of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). That means the Master is ready to either take over our battles and fight for us or simply give us the strength to pull through our problems.
So also in our lives, if we pray to God and believe in Him, He who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17b), then dry bones shall rise again in our time, for our nations, and in our individual lives. The things in your life, whatever they may be, can be restored, and God can breathe a new life into them.
Therefore, beloved, I do not know the difficulties you are going through. Do not give up! The good news is that Ezekiel’s gloomy vision had a happy ending; Israel and Judah received a complete restoration. The dead bones scattered in the valley came together and formed a large army of the people of Israel!
PRAYERS:
My father and God, I thank you for the word of life given. Please grant me the courage to endure knowing that your promises do not fail. Therefore, I am hopeful that your breath will provide me with a new life. Thank you for the victory in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
