“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him – Ephesians” 1:17
In the past three days, our daily devotional has been centered around the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and what we are to expect after the Lord’s resurrection. That knowledge has become very important so we can adequately deal with issues regarding our sustenance and preservation. Today’s devotional is the climax of the narration of what is expected of us. So, in this devotional, we find Jesus revealing Himself during the breaking of the bread.
The revelation of Jesus Christ brings life, power, victory, healing and abundance of Grace to us. The two disciples on the road to Emmaus were Jesus disciples who witnessed his ministry, yet THEY DID NOT KNOW HIM when He walked side by side with them. In the same way, even though Jesus has been close to us, showing us His love and endless Grace, our mind is still far away from him. Just like these two disciples, we constantly fail to recognize the voice and presence of Jesus around us, even in the ordinary things of life. It is imperative to know that the Master is always seeking after us and opening our inner eyes so that we can have a revelation of Him. Why is it so difficult to know Jesus and to have a relationship with him? Some of the reasons could be as follows:
1. Lack of understanding of the Scripture and our inability to trust in God’s promises. Although we have read the scriptures, we do not believe in God’s word.
2. We usually have a preconceived idea of who Jesus is and why he came. We are therefore not ready to know more about Him.
3. We have little faith and so do not believe in the fact that Jesus was truly raised from the dead.
4. We continue to make the mistake of discounting what God is doing, especially in the life of others, simply because we cannot explain it, or even believe in it. This is because God usually uses natural things to manifest His will, and He also does the things we can neither explain nor understand.
After the resurrection, it’s time to walk with Jesus and to have a personal relationship with him. When we do that, we begin to understand life, its travails, and victory. We will then understand clearly that nothing happens by accident, but as it is written concerning each of us. Remember, God is the only one who can declare the end from the beginning and things from ancient times not yet revealed. Therefore, God knows what is going to happen to us, today, tomorrow and throughout eternity, as well as the reason underlying these happenings. (Ref: Isaiah 46:10)
The word of God is telling us today to seek Jesus and develop a personal relationship with him. When we walk with Jesus and fellowship with him, he will reveal himself to us, with a clear revelation of the purpose and plan of God for our life. Like the two disciples on the way to Emmaus, the power to testify for Jesus will fill us up. With the revelation of Jesus comes victory over death, for that is his mission, to give us eternal life – we partake of his divine nature, and reap everlasting life, starting from this moment when we are still alive.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you for the revelation of your word and your divine nature. Lord, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I take authority in thy word, and I step into the realm of eternal life NOW. Therefore, I declare I am a new creation, and I have become indestructible to satanic influences and every other undercurrent beyond my control. AMEN
