“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak" - Matthew 26:41
When we talk of addictions, we are referring to those things we eat, drink, and do, and upon which our life is wholly dependent. These things include Drugs, medicine, foods, drinks and habits. It is important that we control our cravings and addictions, in order to put a check on the challenges of life. Most challenges we encounter in life, results from our inability to control our appetites, urges and habits. Basically, life is dependent on three major things; food, water and the WORD of God. It is normal to hunger for food, drink, and even to yearn for a type of food or drink. But when you become obsessed and crave for these things, and you fret and fall sick without them, then you have to be careful, for this is a sign of spiritual dislocation or disability.
Perhaps we need to understand the value of life, and to know that our inner spirit must always be in tune with its divine origin, which is God. When there is a gap between us and God, our emotions tries to fill the gap by what we can bite and chew, but that will not solve the problem; we have to get connected to God through His word, which only the knowledge of Jesus Christ, his power and grace can give to us. The word of God is telling us today, that, while we stick to medicine as prescribed, we should also hold onto Jesus Christ, for he is the bridge between us and God. Our healing and rehabilitation comes from within; bridging your inner spirit with God through the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the power of his grace.
