YOUR POWER OF INTERCESSION IS CHRIST

November 18th 2018

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save* those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. – Hebrew 7:25

One form of prayer that has left so many gasping for breath is a prayer of intercession. Every true Christian is endowed with powers to intercede in prayers for themselves or on behalf of others. Often, the problems we face seem too big for us. No matter how we try, we cannot solve them on our own except we turn to Jesus in intercessory prayer. During intercessory prayers, we employ the power of the WORD of God to take hold of God’s will and refusing to let go until His will becomes a reality to us. Before you proceed into intercession; first, you must be a true Christian with authority to ascend the throne of grace – to the living presence of God (Hebrew 4:16). Second, you must understand God’s plans and will on a matter; only the will of God would be established, To know God’s will, you have to "let God change the way you think and start to do everything that is good and pleasing to Him" (Romans 12:2). Third, equip yourself with God’s amour and weapon – intercessory prayers are like warring – for you are about to command all forces in the universe and have them bow to you! Your weapon is the spirit of God together with the assurance that Christ rules over all these forces and would be available to dismantle them. In intercession, you are not required to dissipate energy by shouting and stamping your feet on the ground as if in a physical battle. What matters is your worthiness to ascend to the presence of God. In His presence, you are only required to present your petition to God and allow Christ to take control.

Perhaps you may wonder why you are unable to intercede either for yourself or others. One hindrance to intercessory prayers is pride, and a feeling that you are the power, not Christ. When you come to the presence of God, simply take authority with Christ and make your decrees and declarations. Always have at the back of your mind that you are not alone during intercession. Jesus also is interceding on your behalf! In fact, the battle is His, not yours. In intercession, Jesus takes the lead, and directs the flow of the spirit. You are only required to flow with the spirit. The word of God reminds us today that Jesus is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Do not give up during intercession. You must "press on" until you "apprehend" God's will in whatever situation you are facing. With intercession, you are very likely to witness breakthroughs in your life and in the life of others within a short time if you do not lose focus. Persistence is the key to actualization. Jesus gave an example of intercession in the story of a friend who kept knocking on his neighbor’s door for bread. The neighbor does not want to get up, but Jesus says, "because of his friend's persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs" (Luke 11:8). According to the master, "Everyone who asks will receive, everyone who searches will find, and the door will be opened for everyone who knocks" (Luke 11:10). Today is a day to start a prayer of intercession. Hold onto the master, He is the one who does the miracle.

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I ascend your throne of grace this minute, I ask that you take control of every power, forces, stronghold and dominion affecting my life and the life of those for whom I now intercede. Let your will be done today according to your divine providence and sovereignty. AMEN
