WHAT MAKES YOU RELEVANT IN LIFE (PART 1 OF 2)

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him – James 1:12

One question that keeps reoccurring is how to deal with a crisis when it comes up in life.  The advent of crisis in our lives is as sure as the break of a new dawn. That means that crises will always come up, but our attitude to solving problems has to change. Some do not believe that problems are ordinary occurrences; rather, they think that some dark powers are at work in their lives. That is not entirely so.

Some have cried about mounting debts. That is bound to happen due to economic downturn across the world, Nigeria inclusive. Therefore, a crisis in one part of the world will definitely have a spiral effect in other parts of the world.

Life is full of tests and trials. You cannot escape from having one issue or the other in life. Life is not a perfumed rose garden.  Therefore, be ready to see problems, but pray for the power to solve them.  Furthermore, if you want to solve your problem, you have to be alive to do so. When your mind is troubled, your problems are not solved! This devotional will give some spiritual tips for problem-solving.

Notwithstanding the magnitude of your problems, the fact remains that the Lord’s name is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are saved. So, when a crisis comes up, lean on God, who can do all things. While some challenges are caused by us directly or indirectly, some are definitely by some divine providence to strengthen us and make us grow in the spirit.

One key element to watch out for in times of challenges is to ensure that you are not hurting anyone or breaking the laws of your country, for that may be the reason for your challenges in the first place. If that were the case, you have to sort things out by getting genuine and safe counsel quickly. However, the word of God is reminding us today that challenges in life are as certain as the break of a new dawn; they will surely come. But when they do arise, there is a way out for the righteous; and that way is broken into two as follows:

·        Your ability to endure pain and temptation.

·        Your ability to keep loving God despite the pain or the temptation you are facing.

The above two points will guide us to safety. During the dark hours, God is there with you. Hold onto Him – He will give you a helping hand to make you endure pain and will pull you out of the pit of crisis.  All you need do is to pray and watch out for the saving hand of God; He is there with you, ready to pull you out of travails.  The One who stands with God in a moment of trials will definitely achieve victory in the end – he is given a crown of success and breakthrough. Are you currently facing some challenges in your relationship or activities? Pray and watch out for the saving hand of God by doing the following all the time:

1.     Focus on the unseen power and love of God.  Do not let your heart be troubled! Just believe in God. Only then will you begin to see the reason for your problem and the desired solution – God is bigger and mightier than your problems.

2.     Trust in God’s plan even when it doesn’t make sense. God’s ways are mysterious; seek God’s plan always and follow His direction. This you can do through prayers and fasting.

3.     See the supernatural in all situations and pursue holiness. Live a life of spiritual discipline. Study the scriptures daily; get involved in regular prayers and ask the Holy Spirit to help you appreciate God in the ordinary things of life.

4.     Take one step at a time.  On each day, choose to take whatever next step the Holy Spirit leads you to take. Don’t give up when you’re frustrated at any point.

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I take solace in Psalm 31:24, which says to me: “Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord”. Therefore, I declare that my expectations shall not be in vain, for I know my God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Unto you, Father, be the glory forever and ever. AMEN.
