Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing. – that creeps on the earth.” – Genesis 1:26
Many of us do not believe that we can do some extraordinary things, and our beliefs continue to hinder our success in life. God had sowed the seeds of excellence and greatness in us when he breathed into man and made man a living soul. We need to understand that fact and then water and nurture the seed of excellence and greatness daily.
Self-discovery means we have to understand the seed of God’s greatness in us and know how to apply it to our life. In the process, we understand our abilities, character, and feelings as well. Therefore, self-discovery enables us to gain the ability to understand and utilize our inherent potentials; Or if you like, our abilities to use our endowed possibilities to actualize success and growth.
Self-discovery might sound like a big intimidating concept, but it is just a process of:
. Examining your life
- Figuring out what is missing
- Taking steps towards fulfilment.
The bible tells us that God made us in His image and likeness. Paul, in Ephesians 3:20, says further, “Now to him who can do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us”. That means we can succeed in all our endeavours according to the power or essence of God in us.
Here are some tips for exploring to discover self and regain your God–giving potential:
- Believe that you are of the image and likeness of God and therefore can succeed in all that you need.
- Explore your passion
- Evaluate your skills
- Identify your strength and weaknesses
- Learn something new all the time
- Believe and trust in God with your plans.
Trust God as you do the above; then watch how your life begins to yield the fruits of success.
