STAND FOR TRUTH AND JUSTICE

9th OCTOBER 2022

“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, and please the widow’s cause,” (Isaiah 1:17)

One mistake we make often is to take wrong decisions by following group behaviour or alliances, and in the process, we compromise our integrity and noble principles. If your life’s principle is truly rooted in God, then you have nothing to fear, even if you stand alone to profess the truth and uphold justice.

After all, people often come together to support a group activity out of sympathy for one another, not necessarily because their agitation is right or noble. You see that often in political parties’ alliance. Be yourself. Do not be swayed by mass action or beliefs.

Beloved, the level of our societal attainment is dependent on the level of our collective consciousness as a people. God says to us today, “uphold justice, love and righteousness at all times and never quit just because somebody else disagrees with you. This is what I expect from you so that our world can be safer and prosperous for everyone!”

If you are convinced by rational thoughts to act in a particular manner, then do so to please your conscience. In the end, only you will take responsibility for your thoughts and action. As for me, I like to exercise the dictates of my conscience. I would do that no matter what others think or feel about the issue. But I usually have a guiding principle when I thus hold my grounds. The guiding principle is that;

First, I ensure that the weak is made strong.

Second, the poor is made rich.

Third, the proud is humbled.

In the last 30 years, I have followed the above guide. Many people find faults with my adamant posture in certain instances and thought I should be flexible. But I can only be flexible if that will enable me to uphold justice and fair play, to the glory of God.

Note that, God hates injustice because He is the God of the weak, as well as a merciful God. As far as my action brings succour to someone by showing mercy, extending love and curing injustice, I am gratified.

The Bible says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8-9).

I have not learned to be neutral in any situation. For instance, to be neutral in the face of injustice is to glorify evil and cause darkness to reign in the land. God is just, merciful and fair. We should therefore act like God to spread justice and mercy. Why should you act like God to show mercy and do justice?

There are two basic reasons you must endeavour at all times to act like God or become godly: ONE – To make our world a better place. Today, our world is going through turbulence, partly due to the inability of the majority to uphold truth, justice, and righteousness. If more people understand what it means to conduct oneself properly and to embrace love, justice and fairness, darkness and evil will disappear from our world!

TWO – We have to act Godly to better our lives. This is because whatever we give out to others, we also receive back. Interestingly, not many people would support a godly act that seeks to set others free from disease, ignorance and poverty. But little do they know that the more they set others free, the more they better their own lives as well.

PRAYERS

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I dissociate myself today from every bad crowd that goes away from the path of justice, righteousness, equity and fair play. Lord, today I choose to do all things for thy glory alone. Amen.
