THEME: THE MYSTERIES OF THE CROSS
DAY 16 OF 21 SERIES (SUNDAY 16TH JUNE 2024)
TOPIC: The Spiritual Healing and Restoration of the Cross
AUTHOR: MARY LAWRENCE-DOKPESI
SCRIPTURE:
“And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again”- (2 Corinthians 5:15).
THE SPIRITUAL HEALING AND RESTORATION OF THE CROSS
Through the cross, we die to our old selves, to a life ruled by sin and self-interest. Christ’s love compels us to be reborn, surrender our desires and ambitions to Him, and live a life reflecting His glory. – May Lawrence-Dokpesi
REFLECTION
Today, I want us to reflect on the profound gift offered to us on the rugged hill of Calvary. The cross, a symbol of suffering and death, becomes, through God’s grace, an instrument of immense power – the power of spiritual healing and restoration. Now, some of you might wonder, “What about the pain, struggles, and brokenness we still experience?” The healing offered by the cross isn’t always about physical ailments disappearing. It’s about the restoration of our relationship with God, a relationship fractured by sin. When we accept Christ’s sacrifice, we are brought back into communion with the divine. This renewed connection brings peace, forgiveness, and the strength to face life’s challenges. The road ahead may still have its bumps, but we no longer walk it alone. We walk hand-in-hand with the One who conquered death, who offers us hope and purpose in this life and the next.
ADDITIONAL VERSE:
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died” (2 Corinthians 5:14).
Meditation:
Think about this for a moment. Christ, the perfect Son of God, loved us so much that He gave His life, not just for a few good people, but for everyone – including you, me, and everyone we know. Let the weight of that incredible love sink in.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of Your boundless love, manifested in the sacrifice of Your Son. Thank You for the spiritual transformation brought about by Christ’s death and resurrection. Help us to live not for ourselves, but for You, who died for us and rose again.
