“In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men." - John 1:4"

So far, the scripture tells us that Jesus is the word made flesh; He is savior and anointed King; He is the son of God; He is the Word – God-in-Communication, God-Expressing-Himself; He is the Creator of all things. The origin of all life is the WORD of God – whether spiritual or physical life. This day, humanity tends to suffer due to our spiritual deafness and blindness. To hear and receive the teachings of Jesus Christ and to do as He commanded is to accept the WORD of God, together with His promises. When we thus receive the WORD of God, we are helping to sustain LIGHT and LIFE in the world. Notwithstanding the darkness and strife in the world today, there is hope in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the answer and the cure for our spiritual deafness and blindness; Jesus is the one who restores the light which is lost to our world. Scripture says in John 5:21 that, "The Son gives life to whom he will." In other words, Jesus is capable of doing for us physically and spiritually what he did for Lazarus by raising him from the dead. (John 11:43). The LIFE given by Jesus relates to His LIGHT in two main ways: 1. The LIGHT gives us knowledge and spiritual sight to understand and to see things of the spirit. And how does that life, given by Jesus, relate to light? Jesus said to Nicodemus, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). So first Jesus gives life and then that life becomes light – the ability to see spiritual reality. 2. The LIFE of Christ becomes LIGHT in that; JESUS HIMSELF IS THE LIGHT that is seen.

So as Christians, we ought to see in Jesus a good example of how to live a life of sacrifice and love. But alas, we are blind to the truth, beauty and worth – the glory – of Jesus, His teachings and commandments. So when John says, "In him was life and that life was the Light of men," he probably means that Jesus Christ, the Word-Made-Flesh, is both the power to see spiritual splendor and the splendor seen. In other for us to behold the glory and spiritual splendor of Christ, we must be ready to receive the master in His teachings and His commandments – these have always been His desire – that we may constantly behold the light of His glory (John 17:24) Again, Jesus claims this, when he says twice, "I am the Light of the world" (John 8:12; 9:5). The word of God is telling us today to embrace Jesus in His teachings and commandments, and to imitate Him in other to restore LIGHT to the world, and for us to truly enjoy LIFE of abundance. Remember, Jesus has LIFE in himself, and that life becomes the LIGHT of men. He is the power to see and the splendor seen.

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I trust in your power to lead me out of every darkness and bring me to the realm of light – the LIGHT of your wisdom, and the LIGHT that give me LIFE of abundance. Lord, henceforth, my good desires shall take form and manifest, just like your spirit took form and manifested as Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord. AMEN.
