LEARN TO MANAGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS BY FAITH; FOR THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL NOT BE CUT OFF

May 3rd 2019

“For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off” - Proverbs 23:18

God is able to do all things, for He is the power behind every manifestation. To simply be expectant is not enough, your expectations must be rooted in God; or better still, your expectations must be held and nurtured by faith in order to be effective. The scriptures today say the expectations of the righteous shall not be cut off. What gives such an assurance to the expectations of the righteous is simply the fact that the righteous believes in the goodness and faithfulness of God, which does not fail, for God does not renege on His word. Therefore, a Christian’s expectation in God is a hope which does not disappoint (Romans 5:5). One vital point we have to note in our daily practices as Christians are the fact that everything we do must be propelled by faith or unwavering trust in God. We must believe and hope in God for a timely manifestation of our prayers. How does this play out in our daily activities? Like the Apostles, you have to believe in the promises of God in the scriptures.

Before the ascension of Christ, Jesus advised the Apostles to remain in Jerusalem and promised He would send the Holy Spirit to them to fill each of them with power. So the Apostles gathered together in Jerusalem in expectation of the fulfillment of the promise made to them by Christ (Acts 1:1-5, 2:1-4, John 14:15-17, 15:26). Also, the woman with the flow of blood had a similar expectation regarding her healing – if only she could touch the helm of the garment of Jesus, she would be made well! (Mathew 9:20 -21). How was this woman able to get healed without Jesus saying a single word of healing to her? First she had expectation built on what Jesus had been doing in the lives of so many, and second, her expectation was propelled or driven by faith in Jesus Christ. What are your expectations today or for the rest of the year? Believe in God that these expectations will come to pass. God does not manage our expectations for us, but we do that all alone when we place reliance on his faithfulness and promises. If God sees that we trust and believe in Him, He grants our request and gives us the power to overcome; He would do whatever we ask of Him for the sake of His integrity and faithfulness to His word.

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I place my expectations in your hands today. Lord, bring my faith alive and give me the power to conquer; Lord I believe in your word which says to me that; the expectations of the righteous shall not be cut off. Therefore I declare victory and success in all areas of my life. AMEN
