WALK IN THE LIGHT OF GOD (PART 1)

June 17th 2018

“If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth. But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” - 1 John 1:6-7

Today’s scripture reminds me of a popular statement credited to Henry Ford, one of the greatest industrialist and Entrepreneur of our time. Henry Ford, after recounting his many experiences says, “Those who walk with God always reach their destination.” Truly, we experience a huge darkness in our life when we aren’t truthful in our relationship with God. You will discover your spiritual deficiency when you probe deeper and deeper into your life. There are so many things that continue to destroy the light of God around us and put us in perpetual darkness; these are jealousy, envy, pride, arrogance, insincerity, hatred, unforgiving, idolatry, pettiness, stubbornness, hatred, injustice, disobedience, lack of faith and many other forms of unrighteousness too numerous to count. These lapses account for our inability to realize our full potentials, for they are stumbling blocks to the manifestation of God’s power in our lives.

Some people are stagnant, deluded, and unable to achieve their desires due to the presence of these spiritual lapses highlighted above; and at times, we deny their existence in our lives, thereby lying to ourselves. Others go about with a load of hatred and unforgiveness in their hearts; yet some continue to be envious and jealous of God’s gift in the lives of others. It is time to turnaround, away from the dark path by embracing the path of light provided by Jesus Christ. To follow and walk in the light of Christ is to make deliberate efforts to turn away from sins and consciously determine to imitate Christ and glorify Him in every way. In this evil generation, the only way we can survive is to make efforts to walk in the light of Christ. Follow Jesus and make Him your best friends. See Him as your hero or character model and make effort to imitate Him. This is the crust of today’s word for you; make efforts, starting from today to follow the path of light which leads to a final destination in Christ Jesus. This is a destination that brings hope, faith, fulfillment and the loving kindness of our God.

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I resolve to walk with you today, and to do only that which is pleasing in your sight. Lord, I decree nothing shall derail me henceforth from obedience to your commands, and total submission by Faith. Therefore, I bear your testimony all the days of my life. AMEN
