"For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water” - Jeremiah 2:13

In life, we are either a fountain or a drain. This statement is seen mainly in three ways: ONE, in our personal relationships. TWO, in our place of work. THREE, in what we do in the church. In these three situations, you are either a fountain that nourishes the work or the lives of others, or you are a drain that is depleting the energy and life force from the work or in others. To be a fountain and not a drain also has a spiritual meaning. In a spiritual sense, a fountain simply means the giver of vital life force – That which sustains life and vitality. The vital life force gives health and wealth. There is a fountain of life that surrounds the world and everyone is a partaker of it. This fountain of life is God who surrounds everyone, and is in all things giving life, grace and sustenance. Either by omission or commission, some cannot attune properly with this life force of God. Their minds are tuned to something else, which takes away vitality, instead of giving life. Due to this fault, so many are poor and are suffering from diseases and ignorance. A drain in our life will manifest when we take undue advantage of the church, our work place or of one another, by defrauding them or when our presence becomes a hindrance to the manifestation of opportunities and favor in the life of others, our place of work or even in the church. Also, when we are deficient in the vital life of God, we hold back positive conditions such as health, vitality, wealth, abundance, sustenance from manifesting in our life. So we cannot also give any of these positive conditions because we are cut off from them. Anyone who lacks the vital life of God is a problem to others.

Such a person would always strive to drain others of their resources, health and opportunities. Such persons are like parasites that eat up, and contribute nothing. The good news is that we all can become fountains! The word of God today says God is the fountain of living waters who sustains us. We must hold onto God for sustenance, health, wealth and vitality. Life outside God is a broken cistern that can hold NO water. Therefore, anyone who leans on a broken cistern, instead of God will be a burden to others in two main ways: ONE, They will steal and plunder to fill their emptiness, while they quickly empty away because they cannot hold or retain what they have stolen. TWO, they spiritually become a burden to others by swallowing up the others’ opportunities and wealth, and depleting same outright because they cannot retain these things. Conversely, anyone who is a fountain will give forth his energies to serve others, his church and his place of work. Most corporations and relationships that are alive and well have workers and partners who are fountains. Those that have workers and partners who are drains are being depleted of their life’s energy which leaves them a useless shell; an illusion rather than the real thing. Which are you, a fountain or a drain? In order to be a fountain, purify yourself and lean on God and have faith in his providence. Be positive, always count your blessings and be hopeful. Surround yourself with positivity and complain less about what is not right with you. Help others by encouraging them, praying for them and showing them love. Work to encourage someone who’s having a worse day than you. Be happy, and let that happiness and LOVE flow out from you. Be a fountain!.

Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I lean on your word today, and I declare I am delivered from the bondage of broken cisterns. Keep me safe and protected. I declare I am a blessing to others. Father, anything you give my hands shall retain, all to the glory of God. AMEN
