DEVELOP A WHOLESOME CONSCIENCE

March 11th 2018

Today’s Scriptures: “For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world and especially toward you” - 2 Corinthians 1:12

The conscience is inbuilt mechanisms in man to enable us detect the voice of God. God talks to us, and we hear him through the voice of conscience. The scriptures says God has written His word in the tablets of our hearts, This means that God’s laws and His word is written in our hearts, and in this later days, we are expected to sieve out God’s word and laws from our hearts – through the conscience. Unfortunately, our consciences have been silenced or polluted by our cultural, religious and educational beliefs of what we think is right or wrong. The word of God is telling us today to be careful of wrong teachings, which are against the nature of God and His word. For instance, some say there is no difference between good and bad, this is not entirely correct – for certainly, there are things that every child of God must not do. Jesus Christ has come to set standards for what constitutes sound moral judgment. For instance, Jesus does not believe in vengeance and says we must forgive even up to the point of death. Jesus does not believe in human torture, and so he prevented the woman found guilty of adultery from being stoned to death. Jesus does not believe in retaliation, and so he says we must offer to be slapped twice no matter the situation. Jesus Christ is God, and whatever He says is final on questions of morality.

It follows therefore that your conscience should not say anything different from the dictates of God. Very often, our consciences tend to direct us on the right paths, but it is silenced based on our false thinking of what is right. To act against the voice of conscience is to dive into errors and sinfulness. Resurrect your conscience today by developing a sense of right belief in God and His word. Have you allowed your conscience to become dirty and damaged? it can be restored. - Forsake all known sins; seek forgiveness and reconciliation from all those you may have wronged – Before we can be right with God, we must be right with our fellow man, Matt. 5:23-24; 6:14-15; Make restitution to those you have wronged if possible; when you have violated your conscience by ignoring its voice, deal with your guilt immediately; if you have a conscience that is easily violated, train it in the things of the Lord. Feed it with pure Word of God and not the teachings and traditions of men.

Prayer

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, purify my conscience, sanctify my body and mind and bring me into perfect union with thee always. I declare that from this day onwards, thy spirit will abide in my conscience, motivate my actions and your words will be on my lips. AMEN.
