 TODAY’S SCRIPTURES

When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, LORD, supported me. 19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. 20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— a throne that brings on misery by its decrees? –  Psalm 94:18-20

 DURING UNCERTAINTY AND CONFUSION

Have you ever felt the world teeter beneath your feet? Uncertainty grips your heart, anxiety whispers in your ear, and the future stretches out like a vast, unnavigable ocean. The Psalmist, too, knew this feeling. He cried out, “My foot is slipping!” (Psalm 94:18) But amidst the freefall, he found an anchor: “Your unfailing love, LORD, supported me.”

Imagine this: you’re teetering on the edge of a cliff, the wind whipping at your hair, fear threatening to pull you over. Suddenly, a strong hand reaches out, grabs you firmly, and pulls you back onto solid ground. That’s the experience the Psalmist describes. God’s love isn’t a distant light; it’s a tangible force that catches us when we stumble.

But the Psalmist doesn’t stop there. He goes on to say, “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Even when your mind races with “what ifs” and fears, God’s presence can bring a deep, inexplicable peace. It’s like a balm that soothes the storm within, reminding you that you’re not alone.

Now, the Psalmist confronts a disturbing reality: “Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?” He recognizes the dissonance between true authority and injustice. This verse speaks to the human tendency to seek security in corrupt systems, forgetting the true source of power and hope.

So, what do we do when the world feels unsteady and the path seems unclear? Here’s the key takeaway: Seek God first. In prayer, immerse yourself in His presence. Let scripture be your compass, guiding you towards His will. Surround yourself with wise counsel, those who can offer guidance and support rooted in faith.

Remember, God doesn’t promise a smooth, worry-free journey. But He promises to be your unwavering hand in uncertainty, your solace in anxiety, and your guiding light on the path ahead. Take one step at a time, trusting that. He will lead you through the storm and onto firm ground.
