“He that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” – 1 John 3:8

The greatest gift of God to mankind is the gift of a new life in Christ. That is because God loves the whole world that He gave His only begotten son to die for our sin, so we could have eternal life in Christ Jesus. Therefore, God would not let you die or go through life in suffering and pain caused as a result of your sinfulness. The idea of Jesus to mankind is a great one. The bible says; “He that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” – 1 John 3:8.

Having been thus redeemed by His grace, it behooves on everyone to accept the Lord and Master of life as a guide on the path of salvation. Without the light of Christ, you will continue to fall into errors that brings forth sin. It is not an easy task to shun sin, but you must make concerted efforts to flee from sin. Anyone who makes efforts to flee sin is given the grace to overcome. The reason is that Jesus is there to give the power to overcome. But you must be ready to follow the guidance of the Master through obedience to His commands.

Jesus is for everyone. The Bible says He died for the whole world, not just for Christians alone. But if you do not accept to follow His commands, you can’t get to God; It does not matter who you are, your religion or principles of life. Jesus is the light of God, and the path that leads to God.

I do not know what beliefs you currently hold. Whether you are a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddhist, or whatever, I advise that you incorporate Jesus commands in your rules of life. The cardinal command of the Master are two commandments viz:

·        Love God with all your heart and your soul.

·        Love your neighbour as yourself.

Therefore, if you love God, you will work in His holiness and obedient to His commandments. If you love your neighbour, you would not offend him, assault him, kill him, or steal from him. Instead, you would hold him in high honour.

Therefore, anytime you are tempted to commit a sin, hold onto Jesus by faith and plead the power of His Grace through His righteousness. Tell yourself you are sanctified and righteous by His grace and sin has no hold on you anymore. Resist the devil and Watch and see how he flees from you each time you pray this simple prayer:

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I declare I am a product of your righteousness, and the blood of Jesus sets me free. Therefore, I now transcend the power of sin, and I overcome by the power of the lamb, the lamb which was slain before the foundation of the world. Therefore, sin must be destroyed. For this reason, Jesus Christ was manifested to destroy the power of sin, evil and death in my life. I am delivered and renewed by His blood, Spirit and Righteousness. Amen.
