THE NEW YOU!

21st NOVEMBER 2020

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

This topic has become recurrent, due to the persistent debates on the nature of Christians who truly believe in Jesus Christ and are ready to follow Him. All believers have died with Christ; the old sinful nature has been nailed to the cross and buried with Christ, and just like Christ was raised by God to a new life, so the believers are raised to walk in newness of life  (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:14-16) That new person that was raised up is what the scripture refers to in 2 Corinthians 5:17 as the “new creation.” – THE NEW YOU! This is a new creation made possible by God alone brought about by the will of the father – not inherited (John 1:13) What has died with the old are the things that we loved most such as our old natural pride, love of sin, our supreme love of self and self-promotion and self-justification. The new creature looks outwardly toward Christ instead of inwardly toward self. One good thing about THE NEW YOU is that he delights in the things of God and rejects the things of the flesh that gives no benefit to anyone except you! For in the new creation, everything in the world has become new, especially the things of God such as the scriptures which become more beautiful with a new understanding. Nature becomes fresh and new, speaking forth the praises of God; A new kind of love and feelings towards everyone – family, enemies, and friends. The scripture reminds us today about who we truly are in Christ. As a new creation, therefore, you must not continue to live in sin; if you fall into sin at any time, quickly make restitution and rejection and follow the right path again. Often time, we hear people say, “I am in Christ” or “I am born again” If that is the case, you must live the life of new creation in Christ. You must understand your new status as follows:

·        That you have been spiritually transformed by the spirit of Christ and you have become like Christ. You are no longer you, but Christ has taken hold of your entire being and you have become like Him. – Conscious of His power and glory in you.

·        When you are in Christ, your attitude and character are completely changed to become “Christlike” – full of compassion, love, kindness, and mercy.

·        When you are truly born again and are in Christ, “You have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator” (Colossians 3:10)

·         You have been made new in Christ, and now you are being renewed day by day with knowledge and fresh life of abundance.

·        The new creation is no longer a slave to sin; you now have the power to live above sin and reject sinfulness. You have become a wondrous creation of God; created in His mind, by His power, and for His glory.

Beloved in Christ, I beg of you to start today to live the new life in Christ. By so doing, a life of fulfilment, power, peace, and harmony awaits you!

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce sin and every form of disobedience to your commandments today. Father let me truly live my identity as a newborn in Christ. I declare this day that I am a new creation in Christ, and sin and death have no power over me anymore. AMEN.
