THE VALUE OF GOD’S LOVE

18th MAY 2020

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love” – John   15:9-17

Not many can express unconditional love, maybe because we are human. But we must learn to Love like God.  In our world today, love means different things to different people. Rather than love assuming the character of sacrifice, it wears the cloak of lust. Rather than love giving willingly, it wants to receive. This is not right. It is time to shift away from human incomplete love, to God’s unconditional love that has no end. Unconditional love gives life at the point of death; it gives light in darkness and strength in times of weakness. Today, everyone is been called to express love to one another as God would do. This is particularly important as we collectively tackle the COVID – 19 pandemics worldwide. This means we have to give willingly of ourselves to help and to save others in difficult situations. Love is a sacrifice – giving without expecting anything in return. God loves us unconditionally – so He gave Jesus Christ to us. But what are we willing to give to each other in return? Some would only express love to others because they want something in return. That is not right. Love ought to be selfless and sacrificial.

But how do we benefit from God’s love? Truly, ONLY God can give complete and unconditional love without any burden attached! This is why we have to lean on God, especially in difficult situations. The word of God is telling us today that Jesus loves us unconditionally and completely. Himself being a product of love, He is ready to give complete love, not minding how sinful you think you are. But we need to accept Jesus’s love in return! To accept His love, we must be ready to follow the Master, believe in Him, and, in fact, hold onto Him no matter how bad our condition might seem. This means that no matter how tough or rough life might seem, we simply believe still that Jesus loves us, and that His love will set us free from suffering and pain! This is also an expression of faith in the king of kings, and the Lord of Lords. This is basically a mental and an emotional shift in attitude from a position of weakness and loneliness to that of believing that we are not alone in times of suffering; Jesus is right there with us! Accepting Jesus’ love in times of pain and suffering will create a shift in your life, so much that you will be filled with strength, healing, restoration, and value. This is true because, when you come across Jesus’s love, you are completely renewed, blessed, and healed. Your heart becomes pure in love as well; No longer will love remain solely, a romantic or obligatory relationship that satisfies your desperate need to find significance and value. BUT Living in God’s love places you in a position of strength, for you know, to whom you belong and who you are. You do not need human love to prove your self-worth or value. God is yours and you are His.

Consequently, God is telling us today to make a life-changing decision to follow His true love and to be loved unconditionally. God is the source of our healing, blessings, victory, joy, value, and hope. Nothing you face in life will detach you from the love of God. All that you need to do is to simply believe that Jesus loves you all the time! God is love and will always love you no matter the situation. Therefore, lean on God’s love. God’s love will fill every void in our lives. It is free and universal. It is available to everyone. God’s love does not fail, but human love on its own does not last – it is usually hinged on a condition! To receive God’s unconditional love, SIMPLY BELIEVE THAT GOD IS LOVE AND JESUS LOVES YOU!

PRAYER

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I open myself to a renewed inflow of your divine love today, and I declare that I have a new identity and hope, for I am filled by Christ’s love. Lord, I cease to yearn for empty, mental, and emotionally laden affection, and I declare a shift to a limitless ocean of love that rests in the heart and soul of Christ. Thank you, father. AMEN.
